    • Jaguar testing their next generation 2021 F-Type coupe and convertible on the Nurburgring

The F-Type definitely needs an update and Jaguar has the replacement for the current generation out testing. Jaguar needs to address a few issues and the F-Type can be a true challenger in the segment.

For one, it is heavy. Very heavy. Jaguar added all wheel drive and the weight ballooned. They did not do the propensity to understeer any favors.

A dual clutch transmission would certainly be sportier but knowing Jaguar they likely will stick with an automatic. That is fine but if you want to be taken seriously as a sports car you need a dual clutch transmission or a manual transmission option these days.

One area the F-Type excelled was with the exhaust note. The supercharged 5.0 liter V8 that is optional sounds incredible. The problem with it is that it can not compete with modern turbocharged powerplants.

If Jaguar wants to go the all wheel drive route again but with a twin turbo V8 and a dual clutch they would have something that kicks some serious ass. So, don't expect it.
