    • Land Rover to again use BMW V8 power? N63TU/S63TU twin turbo V8 possible for Defender SVR and Range Rover

It was not that long ago that Range Rovers utilized BMW V8 power. The 2002-2005 Range Rover utilized the naturally aspirated 4.4 liter BMW M62 V8. This stopped after the contract ran out as BMW broke up Rover and sold Land Rover to Ford who eventually switched to a new V8.

Land Rover and Jaguar developed a new Gen III AJ133 5.0 liter V8 architecture but that motor even with a supercharger is dated by today's standards.

The problem? This engine is produced by a Ford factory that is slated to shut down next year. What exactly will Land Rover do after that?

The rumor is BMW power. If the new Defender model gets an N63 or S63 based twin turbo V8 it is going to be a huge change. Not only do you get a modern twin turbo direct injected V8 but the BMW aftermarket to go with it. Suddenly Land Rovers will be a lot of fun to tune and potentially very quick.

The 2021 Range Rover already is being reported as having BMW 4.4 liter twin turbo V8 under the hood.

Furthermore, does this mean Jaguars will get the BMW V8 as well?

Things at Jaguar at Land Rover are getting interesting.
